First-Then Board Set

First-Then Boards:
First-Then Board is a visual strategy that helps students or young children with language delays or behavioural disorders. This strategy displays two pictures. The “first” is usually a picture of an activity they don’t initiate or non-preferred and the “then” is a picture of an activity they would like to do or preferred by them.

The benefits of First-Then Boards:
The first-then boards provide a system for the child to:
– Increase independence
– Increase motivation for completing specific tasks directed by parent or teacher
– Support their understanding of routines and transitions (activity to activity or between locations)
– Manage and clarify expectations while providing a logical sequencing of events
– Development of a reward system
– Helps with receptive and expressive communication
– prepare the child for using a visual schedule.
